Day 1 - The team arrives in Bangkok then heads to Ko Samui

After flying half way round the world Concordia arrive at Bangkok Airport in Thailand, then take the train into Bangkok to have lunch and catch their first glimpse of Thailand. After a few hours in the city they take a short flight to Ko Samui where they will spend their first few days.

Still smiling after four flights!!!

On the Bangkok Skytrain into the centre of Bangkok, the Thai Capital.

The team with their Thai guide "Mr. Kitty" who couldn't stop smiling!

Boarding the short flight to Ko Samui Island with AMsports group leader Austin, Coach Weiler set the girls the challenge not to fall asleep on the final flight. The fish, waves and palm trees on the side of the plane not typical in Minnesota...

Dinner and some Thai lessons by Ko Samui guide "Mr. Wallop", then the team checked into the hotel after a mammoth trip to the other side of the World. Welcome to Thailand Concordia!

What the girls said about day 1????

Hi there, Jamie St. Germain and Sara Parsons here, reporting to all you viewers at home from THAILAND.  We flew safely into Bangkok after four flights totaling 20 hours and 34 minutes of fly time. Still one more flight to go, but luckily it’s just to the island of Ko Sumai, approximately an hour and fifteen minutes long. We faced minimal obstacles along the way, such as sprinting to catch a flight at LAX, swollen ankles, loopiness triggered by jet lag, and some interesting (to say the least) seat partners on a 14 hour plane ride. To pass a three hour layover in China, we participated in a refreshing yoga session led by Kilee, to the great relief of our sore muscles and swollen limbs and to the entertainment of confused passersby. Upon arriving at the Bangkok airport, we added three members to our crew, Sarah Rounds fresh off of a one-month backpacking excursion through Europe, Katrine from her Norwegian homeland and tour guide Austin. To the delight of all we were able to leave the airport scene to explore a little bit of Bangkok with the help of the happiest man in all of Thailand: Kitty. We utilized Thailand’s excellent transportation system to view a small glimpse of Thailand’s massive city and experience the excellence of Thai food and shopping. Thailand’s currency—the Baht—is 30 to every U.S. dollar, so our dining experience was extremely cheap, yet not lacking in taste and deliciousness. Now we are awaiting our next and FINAL flight of this long two day traveling experience to whisk us away to the tropical paradise of Ko Samui. Stay tuned for more Cobber women’s soccer updates! Thanks!
